I’ve been just a little busy

and have not been posing like I should so I plan to make up for that this Summer by updating both my personal blog and my wedding photography blog.  As school let out for the year, my son Dylan received several awards from his school, North Houston Baptist. It is a great private school and his teachers were extremely patient with given and worked with him on all his assignments.  One of his teachers, Mrs. Johnson, when she found out that he has Autism, took it upon herself to find out as much as she could about it, so that she could properly relate to Dylan and that spoke volumes to me about her dedication!  Here are a few shots of Dylan receiving his awards:

After the awards ceremony, we immediately left the next morning headed to Louisiana to Sam Houston Jones Park, where the have a very nice lake, cabins and playground for children.  Dylan had gone there before with his mother and grandmother and wanted to go back so this was a “reward” for him for all the hard work he had put into school this year.  The area was very nice and the cabin was nice as well (some people enjoy the outdoors and sleeping under the trees on the ground….I’m not one of them!),  the only “downside” to the cabin were the beds.  There was one full sized bed that Dylan and his mother shared and that left me to sleep in a bunk bed…you read it right…a bunk bed.  They are a lot smaller than I remember and I also do not remember hitting my head as often as I did getting in and out of that bed :)

We attempted to go fishing and Dylan got a chance to play with his Rocket Fishing Rod.  If you are thinking about getting the Rocket Fishing Rod for your kids, I have one word for you…DON’T.  I purchased two of the Rocket fishing rods for him and they both broke before he even had a chance to use them.  On the first model, the reel snapped in two and on the second one, the line broke AFTER he launched it into the water, leaving the bobber, well….bobbing.  He did much better with a plain old fishing rod and had a better time.  and the plain rod was cheaper!!  Trust me, if you find this posting because you are looking for a review on the Rocket Fishing Rod, save your money and don’t buy it!!

One positive thing about the campground was that it had WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS!!   We Technophiles need our connection to the outside world and there is very little to do when it is pitch black outside.  Actually, one of Dylan’s favorite things to do was to just throw sticks in the lake and watch the speedboats go by.  We got home Sunday night and had to get ready for our big move…

You remember Hurricane Ike?  how could you forget.  Well, after almost a year of house damage, the house is FINALLY on the way to being repaired so we had to move out and into an apartment until the repairs are complete.  the insurance company, State Farm Insurance, has been very helpful in some ways and a royal pain in the you know where in others.  We hired Talley Construction to do the work on the house and so far, as of the writing of this post, they are doing a great job.  I will update this post after the job is complete so stay tuned…
