I’m in the running

for one of Houston’s Best!  I need votes!!!

Click2Houston's Best Nominated: Best Photographer in Houston

If you watch KRPC Local 2 then you have seen the advertisements for Click2Houston.com.  Well they have a section of the site dedicated to business and to give you the opportunity to vote for Houston’s best businesses.  If you click the link above, you can vote for my business (hint, hint).  I have shot several of KPRC’s anchors over the years at different Social and Charity events around the Metro Houston area – (Lauren Freeman)

(Wendy Corona)

and would appreciate any support you can give.

D. R. Horton Homes in Conroe

So in my day job, I work for one of the largest homebuilders in the Country D. R. Horton, Inc. and they sell homes all over the city of Houston as well as the Houston Metro Area of Texas(Conroe, Spring, Cypress, Katy, Pearland, Rosharon, Iowa Colony, Clear Lake, League City, Dickinson, Channelview, Porter, and Baytown).  I am not in Real Estate nor am I a Sales Rep but they sell a great home for the money; built well and quite affordable.

On my wedding blog, I posted some Bridal shots of a bride that I shot in the model in Jacob’s Reserve in Conroe so here are some of the shots I took of the model while I was there:  nice roomy bedrooms, large kitchens, spacious living areas.  well, you can see for yourself…

and speaking of cars

My Boss was selling his Candy Apple Red Chevy Corvette.  Given the distance that he has to drive to get to work in the Woodlands, he was putting a lot of miles on this sweet ride.  Since his knew I was a photographer, he wanted a few shots of it to place on flyers.  I wish I could have spent a little more time shooting it…

I am a car nut and I love driving and I’ve always loved the Corvette and there really hasn’t been a body style that I didn’t like.  This is one of the cars that I always wished I could get, but with my lead foot, I’d spend more money on speeding tickets than the car note :)

So I got a new car

Well, not brand new, but new to me (I think the term is no longer used, but preowned).  Over the years as I think about it, I’ve driven a lot of different vehicles:

Ford Maverick (my first car)

Ford Fairmont

Ford Mustang

Nissan Maxima (two styles of this one)

Toyota Camry

Honda Civic

Chevy Impala

and have come to the point that it’s all just transportation.  Yes, the features, color, style, appearance are all nice, but the end result is the same, getting you from point A to point B – some do it a little better than others :) .  I went to Randall Reed Ford in Spring looking to get a Ford Fusion.  I had chosen that one because I rent cars for travel a lot and I’ve always like the features of this car.  When I got there the Customer Service sucked (but that is for another blog post) and I was about to leave until I saw a friend of mine and fellow Church member that worked there.  When I told him what I was looking for and what i wanted to spend, he showed me another option for what was surprisingly less than what i was going to pay and in my opinion a better car.  So I ended up getting it.  what did I end up with?

it’s a 2005 Cadillac CTS 3.6.  I checked out a lot of the reviews on it and people have been really impressed with it and with the features and handling.  Now when I saw it, I told myself “a Cadillac?????”  but after driving it, I was impressed.  The ride is smooth and it actually gets great gas mileage (and since I drive a lot, this was a big deal for me).  I’ve never been big on features – all I ever need in a car is automatic transmission, AM/FM Radio and CD, and good, cold AC.  Anything else is cool, but just extras.  I’ve been happy with it so far and will probably keep it for a while…

on this next shot, I was testing out a new wide angle lens and I liked the look – you can see a few scratches on the fender, but I’ll probably get those painted out:
